Appalachian Mississippian Tidal Channels

Mississippian Newman formation of shoaling up shallow water carbonate, with tidal/or storm generated channels and offshore shales overlain by Pennington formation nearshore and deltaic clastics.  Mixed intertidal to subtidal carbonates cut by tidal and storm channel carbonates and capped by ooid shoals with overlying orthquartzite barriers.
