Kilclogher Cliffs Ross Fm


East of the Kilclogher Cliffs in the vicinity of the Rehy Cliffs exposing deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. Thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands proximal to the axies of deepwater lobes interbedded with lobe and channel wing sands. A monocline is off-center to left. West of the Rehy Cliffs exposing deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. Thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands to left and westward are more proximal axies of deepwater lobes interbedded with lobe and channel wing sands. A monocline is to left. Between Kilclogher and Rehy Cliffs are exposures of the deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. Thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands represent the proximal axies of deepwater lobes interbedded with lobe and channel wing sands. A monocline is to right. Between Kilclogher and Rehy Cliffs are exposures of the deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. Thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands represent the proximal axies of deepwater lobes interbedded with lobe and channel wing sands. A monocline dips towards viewer. East end of the Kilclogher Cliffs exposes the deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. East end of the Kilclogher Cliffs exposes the deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. Thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands of the upper section represent the proximal axies of deepwater lobes interbedded with lobe and channel wing sands. Westward the lower thin bedded portion of the section are distal deepwater lobes that overlie a thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sand. On right and east is a monocline dipping south. East end of the Kilclogher Cliffs and in distance to right are the Rehy Cliffs exposing deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. At the base of the section are thinner bedded more distal portions of lobes. Above in grass cover are thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands more proximal to the axies of deepwater lobes. East end of the Kilclogher Cliffs exposing deepwater sandstone lobes of the Ross Formation. At the base of the section are thinner bedded more distal portions of lobes. Above in grass cover to right and in the exposure to the left are thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands more proximal to the axies of deepwater lobes. At the base of the section is a thicker amalgamated of a chnannel axies and above this are thinner bedded more distal portions of lobes. Above are thicker bedded amalgamated channeled sands more proximal to the axies of deepwater lobes. The extreme western upper portion is characterized by more obviously channelled sands. Outcrops on north shore of the Shannon Estuary between Rehy Cliffs to the east and Kilbaha Bay to the west illustrating the character of the deepwater sediments of the Ross Formation. Here the Ross Formation section is a mix of deepwater fan lobes exhibiting sparse shallow channeling.
