Type 1 Sequence Boundary (SB1)

Type-1 carbonate sequence (SB-1) unconformity

Boundary Type-1 carbonate sequence boundary (SB-1) is an unconformity characterized by stream rejuvenation and fluvial incision, sedimentary bypass of the shelf, and abrupt basinward shift of facies and coastal onlap. This is interpreted to form when the rate of eustatic fall exceeds the rate of basin subsidence at the depositional shoreline break, producing a relative fall in sea level at that position (Kendall and Alnaji, 2002).
